Gachon Cultural Foundation was established according Dr. Lee, Gil Ya's belief that ?ental well-being and health are as important as physical well-being and health? Its purposes are to sustain Korean traditions as well as activate folk culture in the Inchon area. It offers diverse cultural activities including cultural site visitation, cultural school, traditional tea and etiquette education, publication and academic symposiums. Since 1999, it has given "Simchung (the name of a filial daughter from a Korean folk story) Filial Awards" to devoted daughters living in poor conditions and contributing to inspiring "filial devotion" in the nation. Also, it offers tour events to introduce the greatness of Korean traditional cultures to the world and is taking a leading role as a cultural delegation.

A specialized museum of medical history. It holds "Chojoyugasajiron" National Treasure 276 (53 volumes), and "Hyangyakjejibsung - bang" (Treasure 1178), the compendium of the nation? naturally occurring medical plants and "Taesanyorok"(Treasure Number 1179) a specialized medical book. In all, there are 13 treasures and about 18,000 of the first editions of diverse magazines.
