- New Kyungwon University [a merge with Kyungwon College] in March, 2007

Kyungwon College on the basis of "Truth, Creativity, and Great Ambition" was established in 1982, and it was approved to become Kyungwon University in 1987. Despite its relatively short history, Kyungwon University was rated excellent in every category by the 1998 National University Evaluation while the Graduate School was rated the same by the 1999 National Graduate School Evaluation. Additionally, Kyungwon University was rated an excellent university for leading a successful educational reform by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development in 2002. With a merge with Kyungwon College, it will improve the educational environment and the quality of education and research to foster human resources needed for the new society. In order to make it as a specialized university, a progressive reform of the structure is underway and thus similar departments are being merged. The field of health care connected with IT, BT, and NT is where aggressive investment will be made to become specialized fields of the University. Through specialization of the University, the objective of the University to become one of the Nation's Top 10 Universities will be realized in the near future.


Korean Traditional Medicine in Affiliation with Kyungwon University opened in 1992, and it boasts outstanding medical professionals, the latest medical equipment, and a combination of oriental practices and western medicine for advancement. It established the East Traditional Medicine Research Center with Peking University Medical School in May 1993 in order to globalize and promote traditional medicinal treatment through clinical research and academic exchanges.
