Research Center is a state-of-the-art neuroscience center established by Gachon University of Medicine and Science Gil Medical Center and has retained the expertise of Dr. Jo, Jang Hee, the world's pre-eminent authority in the field. The Center is leading the development of neuroscience research, the 21st century's area of prime concern.
The Center plans to develop and create the word's first MRI-PET Hybrid Systems which will allow the observation of microscopic movements and chemical changes within the brain. The Center will open up a whole new world for the study of brain function and consequently the treatment of nervous system disorders such as Alzheimer? and Parkinson's.
Moreover, the German conglomerate Siemens establishes Research and Development Center within the Neuroscience Research Center which becomes a great opportunity for Inchon to become the Mecca of the World's neurosciences.
Lee Gil Ya Cancer and Diabetes Institute will be built in Songdo Techno Park in Inchon. It has already recruited Dr. Kim, Sung Jin, one of the world's prominent scholars in the filed of cancer research. Dr. Kim has also worked at the U.S. National Institute of Health. Twenty two distinguished scholars from the U.S. and Japan will also join the Center. With distinguished scholars in the field of cancer and diabetes from the around the world working with diverse and state-of-the-art facilities at a large Center (4.750 pyung; 1000 pyung = 0.8 acre), the Center will become the Mecca of cancer and diabetes research and treatment.
